Fortnight for Freedom….and Social Justice?

As Catholics stand up for Religious Freedom during the Fortnight for Freedom, let’s take a look at our rights.

Simply put, we have the right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” and personal freedoms like speech, religion and assembly and other protections.

But the human rights movement and some social justice teachings include basic needs like food, shelter, and health care as rights. Are these commodities actually rights? Check out this short video to see how this threatens liberty:
