In theory, Occupy Orlando still exists.
Today, the Orlando Sentinel reports the first “Occupier” went on trial for trespassing. The most curious bit of news in this story is that Muslim activist Shayan Elahi represented the Occupy activist. Shayan Elahi gained notoriety as the counsel for the parents of Rafqi Bary, the runaway Christian convert.
Back in October of 2011, Tom Tillison of the Florida Political Press revealed that the permit for Occupy Orlando was issued to Shayan Elahi. The article quotes Tom Trento of United West linking Mr. Elahi to CAIR:
…”collaborated with the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the Rifqa Bary case, the same CAIR that is an unindicted co-conspirator, the same CAIR that is HAMAS, the same HAMAS that was founded by the Muslim Brotherhood.”
Mr. Tillison of the Florida Political Press goes on to point out that FaceBook page of Occupy Orlando reads; “…we plan to use the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic of mass occupation to restore democracy in America”.
As Mr. Elahi struggles to keep this “American Arab Spring” alive, I have to wonder what is the cost to the U.S. taxpayers? On top of added police pay and park clean up, now we have to flip the bill for the court costs, too!
