Earlier this week, Governor Scott, apparently upon Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs’ recommendation, appointed a former Senator’s son to Orange County Commission. Senator Mel Martinez, you remember, the one who stepped down early from his U.S. Senate seat in 2009, in the midst of an epic D.C. battle when the republicans were in the fight of their lives to hold back the progressive agenda that the Obama-Reid-Pelosi trio was shoving down the country’s throat. That didn’t impress me. Nor does nepotism in political appointments. Why not appoint someone from the district who plans to run again in November at the end of the term? I wonder what Governor Scott and Mayor Jacobs were thinking..
